Customer style profile 002

We couldn’t think of a better way to give an insight into what we do than to interview a few of our lovely customers, welcome to our customer style profile.

For our second style profile we chose long time regular, friend and fellow French Workwear addict, Hugo.

1. Please tell us your name and a little bit about yourself?

My name is Hugo and I run Beyond Retro in Brighton.  I have been working in the vintage trade for 4 years and have been a lover of vintage since I was a teenager shopping at Afflecks Palace in Manchester.  Back then it was great going through each stall never knowing what you would find.  After that I studied fashion and dress history at university, so you could say vintage clothing has always been apart of my life.

2. Please  tell us who and what are your biggest style influences?

I wouldn’t say I have someone who I look to for style influence, though I do think Nigel Cabourn always looks incredible.  I have gone through different styles over the years but what it has always come back to is my love of denim and workwear.

3. What is your favourite vintage garment?

Its hard to choose a favourite vintage garment each of them hold a special place in my wardrobe.  I do have a 1930s Yale jumper though that’s not in the best condition but I would hate to part with it.

4. Please tell us why you shop at Salvage & Sawdust Co and how you discovered us?

I discovered Salvage and Sawdust after moving to the Dials.  I’m incredibly lucky as they share the same aesthetic as me and I don’t have to hunt for the gold as it’s already been picked and curated.  There’s also a real sense of knowledge and passion behind what Salvage and Sawdust do which creates a great energy to be around.

5. What pieces from Salvage & Sawdust Co do you own?

Lucky for me and unlucky for my bank balance I own many, many, many pieces from Salvage and Sawdust! I’ve never met a piece of french workwear I haven’t lusted after from them.  Military gems I’d usually have to fight to find and even down to hats and jewellery......

Basically there isn’t a day where something Im wearing isnt from Salvage and Sawdust. Even my house has various bits of vintage homeware from them. I guess Im what you’d call an S&S co. Addict!
